American Girl Dolls

Maker: Pleasant Company
Doll: Addy Walker
Date of Acquisition: August 2020
Provenance: From eBay

About: I read "Meet Addy" when I was 6 years old, and it made such an immense impression on me. I wanted this doll so badly, but I never got her. And then in 2020, with everything going on... I finally decided to buy her for myself as a birthday present. I went to eBay, because I wanted the 1990s version of Addy, not the purple glurge Mattel version of her. The description "cinnamon pink" cemented itself in my brain when I was 6, and there was no way I was going to get Addy without the iconic dress.
The seller I purchased her from was the original owner, and sent along as many of the accessories as she had managed to hold onto over the years (the gourd, the kerchief, her bonnet, etc), as well as exclusive Addy Walker postcards, and the hardbound book. (I had the paperbacks.) I don't have any way of getting in contact with the seller, but I hope she knows that I cherish this doll.

Maker: Pleasant Company
Doll: Rebecca Rubin
Date of Acquisition: December 2023
Provenance: From Mercari

About: I bought this doll as a reward for a harrowing job interview (didn't even get the job! Weh!) and again, I didn't want the purple Mattel glurge version, so I found an original Rebecca on Mercari. I didn't get any accessories with her, but that's alright.
